The Sharkfin was invented and engineered in Germany by Guenther Burk, and the design received an international patent in 2005, making its debut in Europe. The Original Sharkfin Patent is the World’s first of its kind, stating and providing farther casts and preventing tangles on spinning reels, with a worldwide PCT (Patent Cooperation Treaty) Date pre-dating any similar products’ patent documents by 20 months as documented by the USPTO (United States Patent and Trademark Office).
