There was a good turnout at the CCA tournament in Jensen Beach. Carl Wickstrom, Florida Sportsman Magazine won the Sharkfin 2000 reel.

I had a good time myself, using a Sharkfin 4000 to land a pretty nice snook. Picture attached. I don’t use the 4000 as much as the 2000 but I was sure glad I was using it when this one hit.

My brother let me borrow one of your reels the other day for a trip to our local pond. I had never seen anything like this before and was shocked at how far this thing will throw. I lost a handful of rigs in the trees over the bank due to the range these reels have. My next purchase….SHARKFIN!!!

Hey Joe, I thought you might like to see this snook that my friend Larry caught using the Sharkfin 200o. It was nearly 30″ and weighed #8. We were using live greenbacks. Marc

My client hooked this Tarpon this morning on a Sharkfin 2000 spooled with 12# LCB. We were sight fishing these fish on a shallow flat. The anglers name is Bruce Bagin from New Jersey.

If you are second guessing this reel don’t. It really works and does everything they tell you it’s gonna do. Had a blast catching redfish from 6-40 lbs. on it. This reel is very dependable and smooth. I’ve even noticed increased distance in my casting.

Thanks,

I have been using the Sharkfin reels for my B.A.S.S weekend series tournaments.I can tell the difference already.I can make longer casts with the braided lines that I use.I can make the long casts that I need to get to the normally out of reach bass.I am glad that I have the Sharkfin reels in my arsenal.

My clients have experienced ease of use, catching fish from the experienced anglers, to the most inexperienced. Castability is essential when targeting big bass and the Sharkfin has helped land some real Texas “bruisers!” I even put them to test in the largest tournaments Texas has to offer…
Fish ON!”

As the Tournament Director of one of the hottest resdfish series on the Texas Gulf Coast, I am asked often about the type of reel that I recommend to tournament anglers and customers. My response is Sharkfin Reels! Sharkfin, with it’s patented design, casts quietly to enable tournament anglers to sneak up on the elusive redfish without a sound! The Sharkfin provides anglers with greater casting distance and fewer line tangles. The additional casting distance gained by using a Sharkfin reel is worth it’s weight in gold when wadefishing, and the tangle-free construction is the best on the market!!! As a Sharkfin Pro Team Member, I can honestly say that I only use the best…and Sharkfin is where it’s at! Give one a try…you will fall in love!

Joe,
I really enjoyed that Sharkfin 2000 and 7′ Ugly Stik purchased at Chag’s.
Windy conditions didn’t help our catch, but was glad to have that 20 lb.
braided line tied to my 30 lb. mono leader when this Redfish hit my minnow
in about 12 feet of water on Saturday. It put up a 15 minute fight, but
after landing, realized that I’d hooked it on the outside cheek in front of
the gills instead of his mouth, thus I was reeling it in somewhat sideways.
Can’ wait for this wind to calm and get into some serious trout with my new
reel.
Thanks for all your help,
Craig Englert

Great Reel For a Great Price,
By Tland15

“Been fishing with the sharkfin for about 2 months now and can not say i have had any problems. The new design makes the line shoot off of the spool allowing you to reach great distances in your cast. Also both the drag and retrieve are also smooth.
If you want to gain some distance in your cast, and also have a very well made reel you should consider trying out one of these.
Tim”

This Real Deal,
By AvidAngler16
from Jacksonville, FL

Advantages: long distance casting, smooth drag
“First off, the design of the spool is unique and without a doubt the first time you cast one you will notice an increase in distance. Line literally just flies off the spool. With that said, don’t get too wrapped up in the spool because there is WAY more to this reel than an innovative spool design. Every feature of this reel is top notch from the drag all the way down to the sweet wooden handle.
When you hold one of these reels you can immediately tell the detail and design put into crafting it. The drag and retrieve on this reel are both super smooth. I’ve pulled monster reds on 8lb test out of structure with no problem using this reel. Line comes off the drag without hesitation and it reels as smooth as any reel I have owned.
Anybody who fishes shallow water and is looking for extra distance on the cast without compromising on other features of the reel, you have to try Sharkfin. Like I said, this reel is the real deal and don’t let the innovative design of the spool overshadow the other great features.”

Quality and performance,
By capttommy
from Florida’s Big Bend

“I’ve been fishing the Sharkfin reels for about 6 months now. I have the 2000 and the 4000 sizes, and find the smaller (2000) reel more than adequate for inshore species like redfish and spotted sea trout. The larger (4000) reel feels a bit bigger than most reels in that class (using Shimano numbers as a baseline for size measurement) and I’m waiting for tarpon season on the Gulf of Mexico this spring so I can give it a try on some 75-pound class fish. I’ve spooled the smaller reel with 10-pound braid and the larger one with 20-pound.

The most eye-catching feature of these reels is the design of the spools. The ‘shark fins’ serve to limit the line to spool contact, making for lengthy casts, and also serve to catch stray ‘loops’ of braided line before they can become those dreaded ‘line boogers’. When they catch a stray braided line loop (which WILL happen), the fins simply catch it, store it, and when you make the next cast, you cast it off.

Not only do these reels do their jobs as advertised, they look good and are nicely machined. I’m not good on tackle and don’t take special care with anyone’s reels. I fish saltwater and the reels are frequently sprayed by Gulf water when I’m running. And on return to the dock, if I have time I spray the reels with fresh water and give them a spritz of Blakemore’s Reel Magic and go on about my merry way. I don’t see any reason that I’ll have any more trouble with these reels than with their competitor’s counterparts and will likely have them cleaned and lubed every year or so.”

A Must have!,
By yakangling from Florida

“With this reel you will no longer get the famous “birds nest” or tangles you get from other reels. I fish from a kayak and dealing with a mess of braided line is not easy and sometimes impossible to get out when the knots get tight, thus cutting expensive braided line off your reel. This Reel really does cast further and smoother than other reels out on the market. Give this reel a try you won’t be disappointed.”

Castalia Outdoors Says:

Advantages: longer casts fewer airknots, smooth drag, solid aluminum rotor & frame
“This is a reel for the 21st century. Top quality, workmanship and materials. The sharkfin 2000 with a 2 power seven foot rod WILL cast a 1/4 oz lure 150 FEET, no sweat. I not only did it, but six of my friends did too! It also lays loops down on the fins so you don’t have a loop pull off line into a birdsnest. Smooth drag startup and more! Why didn’t I think of this!”

Castalia Outdoors Says:

Don’t miss this one!,
By DoctorP
from Merritt Island, Florida

Advantages: longer casts, eliminates birds nests, line wears longer
“As soon as I picked this reel up I knew it was for me. So smooth you can’t believe it. No wobble, just a nice tight fit. When I spooled it with braid the spool looked like a brand new spool of thread – wound evenly and tightly on the spool.

It only takes one cast to realize you do not have to do anything but use the Sharkfin to achieve longer casts. As the line leaves the spool in an almost frictionless manner the only possible result is longer casts.

When you are fishing with this reel you will look down and notice line on the outside of the spool and around one of the fins. It looks strange, but all this means is that the fin caught loose line and instead of reeling it onto the spool it captured and held it until your next cast. So, instead of what all spinning reel users refer to as a “birds nest” all you get is another long cast. You get to keep fishing instead of dealing with knots and tangles.

This is one of the best innovations I have seen in a long time. I am already using both the 2000 and 4000 model. Mostly the 2000 for everyday fishing but I like to have the 4000 on hand when I run into some bigger fish.”

I recently bought a Sharkfin 4000 and my brother in Tulsa plans to do the same. Two other members of our team that fishes in northern Canada will also be considering a Sharkfin 4000 for those monster Pike we catch. I spooled my Sharkfin with some 30 lb braid I normally use, a liquid steel leader and a 5 inch Trick Fisch lure. I was very pleased with the performance. As soon as the liquid braid is available from Castalia, I’ll try it on the Sharkfin. I’m pumped about the opportunity to get one of those 45 inch plus toothy “alligator fish” on the line when our team invades Bolton Lake in August!!

Capt Russ Rivers and Capt Rick Worman with a nice size red fish

I have been fishing for over forty years, both as an avid sportsman and professional licensed USCG captain; I have used many types of reels. I say to you in all sincerity I have never seen a product of this quality for the price. Sharkfin is revolutionary to say the least. Top notch components along with a new spool design make this the best spinning reel I have every fished with, bar none. I challenge you to find a better one at any price.

In my charter service I fish the Indian River Lagoon system located on the central east coast of Florida; known for its big redfish. They are one of the most targeted and heavily fished species on the planet and can be spooky beyond belief. Long distance casting is a must along with a dependable smooth drag system. Sharkfin does both. This product will make the big boys in the industry take notice and make you smile the first time you pick one up.

Sharkfin didn’t come to me, I went to them. I am not in the business to get a free ride and don’t use something just because someone pays me. My clients deserve the best I can give them and Sharkfin reels are the best in my opinion. As I said I have used them all, so don’t fall for the hype, try one or two for yourself, you will be amazed at the performance, quality, light weight and balance. I stake my reputation on it. Call or contact me anytime and I’ll share my personal experience with Sharkrfin.

Liquid Braid will be available after the first of the year and it is the perfect braid for use on the Sharkfin, I have field tested it and it meets my standard for me and my clients.

Nice to see the Sharkfin reel mentioned in the ‘You Should be Selling’ section of the latest (10/09) issue of Fishing Tackle Retailer.

Castalia Outdoors Says:

“While guide jigging lake trout at 180 feet, I became snagged on the bottom and after 40 minutes was not able to retrieve my lure. I decided to reverse the motor slowly, locking up my reel and braided line. I was using the new Liquid Casting Braid, 20 lb. on the Sharkfin spinning reel. By applying more than 100 pounds of pressure, finally the 12 inches of 20 lb. monofilament line snapped one inch below the barrel at the connecting swivel. Needless to say I was greatly impressed with the strength of the Liquid Casting Braid and the Sharkfin reel.”

Bob Epstein Says:

Came in Second out of more than a dozen in a casting accuracy contest. First time I cast the reel with your new Liquid line and the line was the wrong size for the reel model 20-pound test was all I could get. Still each target was hit at least 50-percent of the time leaving me in 2nd place by just one cast from another professional guide (I’m not) we were both awarded new rods and reels for 1st and 2nd. Great reel, great control and distance.

Capt. Tommy Thompson Says:

Capt. Van Hubbard, Merry Beth Ryan and I put a Sharkfin 2000 ‘through the mill’ this past week at Steinhatchee. Caught plenty of trout, but the casting range of the Sharkfin really paid off when we encountered several schools of over-slot reds in very shallow water. When you’re in a foot of water, it takes a long cast to reach these spooky fish, and Van was able to hook up on several big reds at long range.

Van Hubbard Says:

Got to try out the 2000 Sharkfin reel from ICAST recently. Caught several nice permit to five pounds and snook to twelve pounds. I am impressed with how well it casts. extra distance is a big help on calm days. It seems to cast about twenty percent farther than full spool reels. Thank you. Van Hubbard, Boca Grande, Fl.

KATHRYN Says:

I fish very little, however last weekend my husband talked me into going with him. He set up a rod and reel he wanted me “GIVE IT A TRY” being the spectic I am about fishing with him. He set up a “shark fin Reel”. I have trouble casting, So I thought. The line we used liquid casting braid along with the 2000 Shark Fin reel was fun to use, “no bird nests” (Thank God that’s my husbands words). I was able to fish and truly enjoyed the day fishing… I even set my own bait, How about that girls? Next time I’ll send some of our pictures. And lets Keep it touch.
Have fun, And keep our waters clean.
Katy

Captain Mike Ortego Says:

Either poling for monster redfish on the space coast of Florida or bonefish in the keys, long casts are a must when targeting spooky trophy fish in skinny waters.

Capt. Tommy Thompson Says:

Saw the Sharkfin yesterday at the ICAST fishing tackle show in Orlando, Fl. Can’t wait to try one, especially with some of the Liquid Casting Braid.

joe Says:

I HAVE USED THE SHARKFIN IN BOTH FRESH AND SALT WATER FISHING. THIS IS THE LIGHTEST CASTING REEL EVER. DURING MY SALTWATER SHORE FISHING I WAS ABLE TO CAST TWICE THE DISTANCE OF WHAT MY FRIENDS WERE ABLE TO CAST WITH LESS EFFORT AND HASSLE FROM TANGLES, RESULTING IN MORE TIME FISHING.
AND, ON MY FRESH WATER TRIPS I HAD PIN POINT CASTING WITH GREAT FEEL, A SPINNING REEL YOU WILL WANT TO TRY.

admin Says:

I’ve been fishing with the Sharkfin for several months and can say it has outperformed all my expectations. If anybody can create a line tangle with a spinning outfit – it’s me – but with the Sharkfin, it has kept me tangle-free since I first spooled line on it. We look forward to bringing this spool design to North America – stay tuned, and ask for the Sharkfin spool at a tackle store near you!
